In this third album, Andy’s music instills in the listener a sense of deep yearning while also exploring the satisfaction of finally fulfilling that desire. He tells of the light that shines through loneliness and discontent--whether it be the light of headlights along the “Kansas Turnpike”, the glow of the “River Light” upon a forlorn lover, or the self-awareness discovered on the “Garden Path”. A fatalistic acceptance colors the deceptively upbeat “Live On”, and irony joins the steel guitar on “We Forgot About Peace and Love”. “Almost at Home” gives us a moment of content, and songs like “Front Door Jamb” and “Beneath the Apple Tree” demonstrate that Andy’s guitar work rivals his way with words.

Recorded at the farm that has been in his family for 120 years, River Light is music at its purest. No fancy studio. No over-production--nothing but Andy and his band playing the music he enjoys hearing.
